Abstract

The concern to preserve the architectural heritage through a century and a half, has accumulated a wide series of theoretical positions, which have been used to lead the work aimed to safeguard this architecture. However, many contradictions appear in the results along the praxis, merging these results into three general subjects: "consistent", "apparent" and "indifferent". Therefore, the theorycal framework in the present work is established to carry out and show the reflection of the pronouncements of Socrates and Popper, questioning what does the classical theorists considered to be as Architectural Restoration and what is their object of attention to demonstrate that in the practice, a series of assumptions are entangled because of the ambiguities -in the theory of the discipline, as in the definition and delimitation of the object of attention- even the dispute, between not a few areas of the human activity. Because of the nature of this theorycal analysis, the method used to carry it out follows the Critical Rationalism.
