The aesthetic quality of the Puuc buildings has required that, along the years, the archaeologists have
taken interest improving the techniques of data recovery that allow us to reintegrate, on a scientific way, the
magnificent friezes which adorned the facades. The method we use begins with the documentation of the
building’s background, since it was reported by travelers or amateurs who left descriptions or illustrations of the
construction, from the antique photographs and blueprints to the interventions it has had. Later, we make the
damage diagnostic and the collapse recognition, to finally propose the intervention project. On the last period
we emphasize on the excavation process of the collapses and on the stereotomy of the stones that form part of
the Puuc buildings. These procedures are useful for any kind of constructed patrimony.
