Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze and evaluate the Vasco De Quiroga Route (RDV) as a cultural tourism product in Michoacán, Mexico. This route was formalized in 2011. The problem is the lack of monitoring and attention to the programs that gave rise to the RDV. Also in identifying if the tourist functionality of the patrimonial icons is suitable for its tourist use. The evaluation of strategies for the promotion of cultural and religious tourism makes it possible to know if there is a sustainable tourism management policy. The main contributions of this study show that the programs are inoperative, lack management and planning. There is no follow-up in the tourist operation of the route or results survey in order to assess and objectively promote strategies for the promotion of cultural tourism. The paper presents some reflections regarding the fulfillment of an objective and systemic vision of the current reality of the RDV cultural tourism in order to influence its management and thus to rethink an effective policy of sustainable tourism.
