Abstract

The Friendship Route was a tour of 19 sculptures created for the Olympics Games Mexico 1968 as part of its Cultural Olympiad. The Board of Trustees of the Friendship Route has restored and rescued these works, 14 of which have been grouped in the clover of the Periférico with Insurgente Avenue and Tlalpan Viaduct, where it has undertaken other social actions such as the Multidisciplinary Artistic Interventions Program to promote temporarily the physical and symbolic appropriation of different artists, the Pedregal Native Gardens where the flora and fauna of the environment are rescued; the Edible Forests Project where they cultivate various species of vegetation, and the Museum of Urban Architecture, an initiative in charge of conserving the original urban characteristics of this territory, as well as motivating education and adequate mobility, in the face of the threat posed by the temptation to corrupt this historical urban landscape by degrading it with transformations and uses that favor its usufruct. The objective is to understand the meaning that this urban heritage has as a scenario of the daily life of citizens and the effects of these social actions in its reconfiguration, based on the application of the Deep Hermetic Method, whose general results indicate that there is a devaluation of this by citizens, which is changing by promoting its socio-territorial belonging, aspects that will be seen if they are replicated in other investigations on the legacy of "Mexico 68", with implications in its management and safeguarding.
